In the mid-1970s, I helped to organize a speaking event at my college, Washington State University, for Jesus Lemos, a representative of the UFW. I also typed up educational fliers on mimeograph paper, hand-drawing pictures of iceberg lettuce and grapes and Gallo wine (this was before the days of computers, and copy machines were rare), and helped get signatures on petitions in support of the boycott. Over the years, I’ve helped with music for events honoring Cesar Chavez and also Arturo Rodriguez.
