I had just seen a movie called ”Katharine: Portrait of a Revolutionary.” Then I saw a group of UFW people giving out bumper stickers in favor of a proposition that would enable farmworkers to organize on the job. I threw myself into the work and spent entire days giving out stickers. The dedication these activists had to their task reminded me of the ”Katharine” in the movie (actually, Diana Oughton). They actually offered me a paid staff position but I had decided if I was going to do this full time, I wanted something more revolutionary. (I ended up in a Prairie Fire study group.) But I never forgot the selfless dedication of the people I whorled with in UFW.
